Beth grew up a single child in a home where her parents had no time for her because they were always too busy fighting over her father's philandering. Bruce was her high school and college sweetheart, who excelled in athletics and academics and was determined to make it as a writer. Beth broke it off senior year when she caught him cheating on her.
